Dear friends, family and amazing fans, so we got our recovered-yet-damaged van repaired enough so that we were able to drive to Florida overnight, and we are now planning on rejoining our tour with our our brothers Foxy Shazam in Ft Lauderdale tonight, fingers crossed! The police in South Carolina have told us that our trailer, our merch, our personal possessions and all our gear are very unlikely to ever be found (anyone with a van/trailer going through W. Columbia, SC please be careful, we are unfortunately one of many that this has happened to recently). Despite dire predictions about ever finding what was stolen, we will be posting more details about the gear we lost later today, on the off chance that someone somewhere might happen upon any of our instruments being sold or abandoned somewhere. If anyone wants to get in touch, please be sure to email us at email@example.com; we are checking that Inbox constantly. We have of course been monitoring pawn shops, Craigslist postings and all the tips that people have graciously sent to us, and we are barely able to express adequately how thoroughly bowled over we are at the unbelievable kindness of so many of you, strangers as well as friends, from near and from far far away. Our minds are blown, they really are. Our belief in the innate goodness of humanity was seriously kicked in the butt on Saturday when the theft went down, but since then the extreme generosity, incredible words of support and abiding love from so many of you has turned an utterly demoralizing situation into something that while bitter is also bearable, something that we feel pretty sure we’ll be able to move on from and keep on carrying on doing what we do best, which is play and make music for all of you. More updates to come, but for now we just want to say that we love you all, very very much. Thank you thank you thank you, a hundred thousand times over, and then some. xo The Flask
Dear friends, family, fans and fellow humans: there simply are no words to describe how deeply grateful we are for all of your support in our time of need. The amount of generosity and action taken, from donations to networking to try and gradually rebuild our arsenal of instruments we’ve collected over many years so that we may continue is truly profound. THANK YOU a million times over. We appreciate it more than you could ever know.
There is some good news too: our van has been found by the police in a nearby county! Although the van has sustained serious damage rendering it temporarily unusable, this is at least a ray of hope. The trailer however, along with all of our gear we’ve collected over the years, as well as all our merchandise and personal belongings, are still missing and the local authorities aren’t holding out much hope of recovering anything. Apparently there’s been a spate of similar crimes in this area (vehicles stolen with a trailer in tow, only to abandon the vehicle and make off with the trailer and its contents). Bands and anyone with a van/trailer traveling in this area of South Carolina, please be very careful when passing through!
QUESTION: is there anybody in the Cayce/ West Columbia, SC area that knows anything about repairing a seriously damaged ignition key cylinder? See the attached photo of the cylinder when the police found our van yesterday. Does anyone in this area know any mechanics that might make an exception and do some work on a Sunday? If so, please email us ASAP at firstname.lastname@example.org. Hopefully we can get this fiasco sorted out quickly and be back on the road to Fort Lauderdale, FL by today. We’re not sure if we’ll be able to make our show there with Foxy Shazam tomorrow to be honest, but we promise to keep everyone posted.
Thanks again from the bottom of our hearts for all the donations and assistance from bands and musicians near and far, and from so many of our incredible fans from all over the world. We love you more than we can say, and we literally couldn’t do what we do without all of you. Xo The Flask
URGENT!! PLEASE READ!! Our van (Oregon license plate: 146 FRN, white 2010 Ford Econoline 350 w/tinted windows) and trailer (white 18’ double axel) were stolen from outside our hotel room last night in Cayce, South Carolina. We are stranded here in Cayce now and are figuring out how to proceed. Unfortunately we will have to miss the show tonight in Charlotte NC with Foxy Shazam but we want to carry on with the rest of this tour if at all possible. If anyone in the North Carolina or South Carolina area has a van we can borrow and return to you after this tour ends in Ohio on June 28th, we would be more grateful than you can possibly imagine.
And if anyone wants to DONATE any money in any amount towards helping us buy a van/trailer, you can do so via PayPal at email@example.com. Needless to say, we are deeply and humbly grateful for any help in any manner than anyone out there can provide. Thank you all so much for always supporting The Flask…we hope and pray we can get through this horrible situation and carry on.
If any friends or fans or other kind souls can possibly let us BORROW any gear (ESPECIALLY a banjo, an upright bass and a trombone) in each city for the rest of the tour, we would be incredibly grateful…this is the only way we can continue on this tour and we want to carry on for sure. If you can help in any way, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can see our upcoming shows with Foxy listed under the “EVENTS” tab here on our Facebook page, under our main photo.
